Our Faith

Our Mission and Vision

Our vision is based on Revelation 7:9-12,

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:

“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”

All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying:

“Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”

Revelation 7:9-12 (NIV)

And our mission is therefore:

  • OneHeart has a clear identity as being cross-cultural, believing that the Uniting Church has a significant role to play in discovering what it means to live in a truly diverse community. OneHeart has been called to embody God’s vision for wholeness in the community despite cultural differences or social barriers. OneHeart aims to constantly deepen its cross-cultural engagement and invite all to be a part of God’s family.
  • The purpose of OneHeart is to continue to find the meaning of authentic worship. OneHeart aims to provide a space for the building of relationships and a clear understanding for God’s call to transformative and radical discipleship in the way of Christ.
  • OneHeart understands God’s mission to reconcile the world to Himself through Christ as a redemptive act of generosity and love. Thus OneHeart is called to be a missional community where members likewise live and actively engage in roles of generosity and love.
  • OneHeart aims to be ambassadors in God’s reconciliation work. OneHeart is a servant movement that reaches beyond barriers, both real and perceived, to engage with the wider community and work together to grow in inclusivity and transformational love.

Statement of Faith

As defined by the Uniting Church Basis of Union, our statement of faith is that of the Apostle’s Creed / Nicene Creed:

We believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
