Our History

2009

March: OneHeart launched in West Epping UC with our first ever service. Led by Ace Kim, Kent Crawford, and Sarah White.

August: OneHeart joins Australia’s mission movement Jesus All About Life.

October: OneHeart joined the Granny Smith Festival in Eastwood to engage local people. This continued for the next seven years. OneHeart also led our first Life to the Max event.

2010

September: OneHeart joined hands with Wagga Wagga Uniting Church for the first time at the Cross Cultural Gathering.

October: OneHeart joins NextWave, a Uniting Youth and Cross Cultural Celebration organised by NSW & ACT Synod.

December: OneHeart participated in the National Christian Youth Convention (NCYC), an Australia-wide Uniting Church event.

2011

March: OneHeart joined West Epping Uniting Church missions for the first time, with March into Mission. Our mission activities with West Epping UC continue to this day.

May: OneHeart’s growth meant that we organised small groups for fellowship and bible reflection for the first time.

July: OneHeart pioneered the Bidwill Mission Trip to help Habitat for Humanity build houses for disadvantaged families in Bidwill. This continued into the rest of the year including the trip in October.


2012

March: OneHeart’s growth meant that we could organise our first Easter Camp, with churches in our network. Easter Camp has continued as this tradition of connecting with local churches at bi-annual Easter Camps.

2013

July: OneHeart travelled to the regional city of Broken Hill, to open the door for ongoing missional collaboration with AEF. This started OneHeart’s partnership with AEF.

November: OneHeart’s leader Ace Kim was officially ordained as a Reverend within the Uniting Church.

December: Rev. Ace Kim officially inducted as the full time full time Minister of the Word at OneHeart Uniting Church. Additionally, OneHeart had our first Port Augusta mission with AEF. OneHeart has continued this bi-annual habit of visiting Port Augusta for mission and fellowship with brothers and sisters of Aboriginal and Indigenous heritage.

2014

February: OneHeart commissioned its first management team composed of lay leaders.

May: OneHeart began our networking with churches in Canberra, visiting the All Nations Church within the Korean Presbyterian Church.

June: OneHeart began our relationship and partnership with Lane Cove Uniting Church. OneHeart’s worship team led the worship at the Lane Cove UC Morning Service.

July: OneHeart had our first annual OneHeart Uniting Camp (July Camp), in Wagga Wagga. July Camp has continued as this tradition of connecting with regional churches within the OneHeart network in Australia at annual July Camps. Also, OneHeart went on an inaugural mission trip to Northern China and visited the border between China, Russia, and North Korea.

December: OneHeart’s growth meant that we held our first independent Christmas Eve celebration.


2015-2016

OneHeart continued the many traditions that it had developed through the years including Mission Trip with AEF (January), Easter Camp (April), Life to the Max (June), Church Camp (July), and Christmas Services (December). In 2016, OneHeart started considering additional, extended-languages services for those in the OneHeart community who would benefit from these services.

2017

April: OneHeart began our mission partnership with Concord Uniting Church and moved to our home in Majors Bay Road, Concord, NSW.

June: Family Service at 11AM was launched as a way to support families in OneHeart, most of which were Koreans. Family Service continues to this day as the 11AM service with a vision of becoming a multilingual service by 2019.

December: OneHeart held its first election for lay leaders nominated by the community rather than by existing leadership structures.

2018

March: OneHeart moved to our current home at Ryde Uniting Church.
